Author's Name: Alicia Davis About the Author: Who is Ms. Davis ? she is a lover of ancient black studies, 4th - 8th grade elementary school teacher and current elementary school administrator. She is a mother of 1 son ( Brayden Henderson), Chicago native: born and raised by way of Oak Park ,IL, and Bellwood, IL her initial roots. She started her love for reading and writing in grammar school at Andrew Jackson Language Academy. Surrounded by what can be described as the cultural mecca of diverse urban influence, her family, and life became some of the many inspirations and creative outlets she has embarked on such as: poetry, podcast, teaching style, as well as her prose and love for story- telling . In high school Alicia participated in a special writing community called the " Spoken Word Writing Club." It was then that she begin taking her writing seriously. Through careful study and mentorship, she knew her words had power and her voice belonged on stage. Later in life she pursued teaching as a means to get other peers and students involved; invested in telling their own unique stories.
