Author Name: Ross Radford About the Author: Hi! I’m Ross. I’m a trainee teacher from Croydon, who works locally within a primary academy. I started writing poetry more regularly over the last couple of years, but strangely never enjoyed writing at school or even learning about poetry. For years my background has been in football, sports and physical education, both playing and coaching/teaching at number of levels. I am currently still studying at university, so this coupled with being a trainee teacher I do find it quite challenging to find time to just write and follow the writing process. When I first started teaching I would shy away from delivering poetry to the children, however now I really enjoy teaching poetry and use it quite often to engage pupils with witty poems, rhyming words, couplets etc around current topics and learning – they tend to enjoy these! Personally, I think my enjoyment for writing has largely improved as my writing is governed by no rules and this allows me to create my own patterns, rhythms and ideologies on how a poem can or should look!
