Author's Name: Cecilia Brizuela About the Author: This book was written by Cecilia “Cecil” Brizuela, a nurse, an educator, and a businesswoman with great passion in writing and poetry. Originally from the Philippines, Cecil moved to the Unites States of America to pursue a career in Oncology Nursing in her Mid-20s. In August 2021, the tables turned. Cecil got diagnosed with Stage 4 Metastatic Ovarian Cancer and started a long difficult battle with needles and infusions. She wrote The Tincture of the Heart during the nights when the Chemo drugs should have helped her brain to rest, but she would normally lay awake alone with her thoughts as she battles through the aches and pains of cancer. This collection of poems is her ode to a life well lived and a heartfelt thank you to the people she loved and touched.
