    About the Author: Kris McElroy is a biracial Black autistic transman living with multiple disabilities. He is a human services professional, public speaker, writer, artist, and advocate living in Maryland with his wife and daughter. Kris earned his bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Maryland and his master’s degree in Multidisciplinary Human Services from Capella University. He has bylines at Rooted in Rights Washington, The Mighty, New Mobility Magazine, Art of Autism, Center for Adoption Support and Education, and the Organization of Autism Research. Kris has been a guest speaker across the world discussing topics of intersectionality, trauma, parenting, mental illness, and disabilities. Additionally, Kris has been a cast member of the Telling This Truth Theatrical Production for trauma survivors.
