Description of the Book:

‘The Agony of Tacenda’ is the second published collection of poems by Spandan Nath.

Tacenda means “Things that are best left unsaid”. The poet explores the pain he faces everyday for the things that he believes can never be spoken out loud, sometimes out of fear that he would be misunderstood and sometimes just because it’s exhausting to explain how his mind works.

This collection of poems are about things left unsaid verbally, but the agony of keeping those within one’s heart was so great that the artistic essence in the poet had to address them as honestly as possible, in words. This is a set of extremely personal poems of an individual who deals with his mental health issues, loss of people to death, loss of his own identity, betrayal from what one may call love and finally… finding his place among his kingdom of words. Yet the journey doesn’t end there, because words also fail him at times and the agony of the same has also been explored.

Honesty is the most important part of this collection, hence curse words do appear quite abundantly in these poems. Poetry to the poet is not what is called traditionally beautiful or even poetic, but the expression of what can be said between the lines or sometimes within the lines that he once believed no one else would ever care to read.
