Inspired by self and other stories, the book centers on the processes of grief for losing everything that was once known, love and its variety, and the resistance to capitalism, exploitation, colonialism, genocide, and other violent systems. The poems encompass the past, present, and the dream of a possible future.

    About the Author: Valery León Quintero is a Venezuelan immigrant residing in the United States. Since a young age, Valery has been passionate about writing. In 2017, when her immigration journey started in Germany, she started formally writing poetry. Valery holds a B.A. in Sociology and a B.A. in International Relations from Wheaton College, Massachusetts. Her passion for poetry is inspired and informed by her studies and experiences in immigration, conflict, violence, and oppression. At the same time, she works in the higher education field to support first-generation and low-income students to thrive and graduate while supporting her communities outside her professional life. Valery believes in love as a revolutionary element of resistance and liberation that prevails beyond our lifetime.
