Description of the Book:
In this collection of poems, "Pareidolia," pareidolia is finding patterns, like a sculptor with his chisel, removing the unwarranted. The painter abstracts, for he hides what he sees and seeks what he feels when he holds his brush. Words, like a chisel shape, in rigour and gentleness, to find expressions that shape the unknown. Once set, it is like a fire that burns away to leave the words on paper in the poem's cast.
I delve into the dreams of dreaming, being dreamt, dreamless sleep, love, loss, finding solitude, and the cyclical nature of time's maps. These are not mere histories of men but phoenixes that rise, the albatrosses that bring us down, the kites that sway, the dervishes that swirl - each a pattern of the soul. If galaxies are God's poetry, then the patterns of words in a poem are our galaxies of souls.
Ghalib says, "Jab aankh hi se na tapka to phir lahu kya hai."
If we cannot cry blood, then why write? The words of the heart must recast history, retelling the stories of men, those unheard and those who lie in coffins. Can we stand for those who rise from the dead, shape words of silence, punctuate to trace the turns of the past, self and ours? The Gods must be heard in our words; it must be an ode to men. Our poems are metaphors for our souls; the history of men must be inspired in them.
Through this poetic journey, I invite readers to discover the beauty and complexity of their emotions and the world around them.
Pareidolia
Author's Name: Venkat Srinivasan
About the Author: I studied economics and mathematics, which led to a career in the banking industry. Early in my life, I found inspiration in the evocative language of Sahir Ludhianvi, the simplicity of Shailendra's songs, and the abstract metaphors of Gulzar's lyrics. The writings of Rushdie, Pessoa, Borges, Márquez, Kundera, and Amitav Ghosh have profoundly influenced me. Words became vehicles to tame my thoughts, giving shape to the love, despair, pain, and politics that would engulf my heart. I write to give form to my inner world, and poetry becomes the pareidolia of my thoughts, revealing hidden patterns and meanings. Book ISBN: 9789363311732
