Description of the Book:

Mental Warfare is about the battles I face every day in my head. Bringing awareness to the struggles I go through like anxiety, depression, and overthinking. This book is me expressing the darkest parts of my brain where I'm not able to verbally express to anyone. Finding a safe place to talk about what I go through has always been a hard thing to do because growing up, talking about your mental health was looked down on. I was taught that I must push through, so I never got a chance to understand what I was going through. Not until I picked up a pen and started identifying what was going on with me. I just hope my demons are not too much for y'all.

About the Author: I’m the 6’4 poet from Queens, New York. I grew up playing basketball, which made me feel closer to my father who passed away when I was a baby. My father's death affected me in ways that wasn’t easy to express. For a long time, I thought basketball was my form of self-expression, but I still needed a way to get things out. I started writing in high school. I have been influenced by music since an early age, having a mother and grandfather who love music. Also, I fell in love with battle rap in which produced my writing style. I tried my luck with being a rapper but quickly found out music wasn’t my path and was introduced to poetry in my creative written club at Queensborough Community College in May 2021. I have some of my haikus in anthology there. I felt like I found home with poetry and started pursuing it ever since. As I continue to grow as a poet and performer, I hope to bring more awareness and acceptance for men being vulnerable and their mental health.
