Description of the Book:
Marigold is a collection of 30 poems fluttering around the themes of love, a sense of home and existentialism. In psychology and particularly trauma work, there exists a concept around ‘feeling of centrality’ which speaks to the perception that experiences of love, loss, existentialism are unique and perceived as central to an individual’s identity and life story. In reality, the experiences themselves are not unique - we all experience them, but we engage with them in unique ways. Marigold is an attempt towards normalising and highlighting the collective nature of these experiences; a move away from the perceived centrality. I hope what you read resonates with you in some way. I could say this is poetry; but Marigold is feelings; and true to the flower, is soft in words and pungent in flavour. Why Marigold? It’s because the poetry in here, in most bits, has definite Indian roots and somehow the Marigold flower feels distinctively Indian in how it lends itself to Indian homes, celebration of love, grief, loss and everything in between (even though the origin of the flower is traced to Mexico).
