Fearful and confused, people, with no previous experience as points of reference, tried valiantly to cope with the crises in their daily lives with varying degrees of success and failure.

In Kolkata for a brief visit, Pradeep Dharmapalan found himself confined to a guest house in its Salt Lake locality, with long and seemingly unending days and nights to negotiate.

As uncertainty and chaos reigned, severed from the past and confronting impending doom, he turned to the anachronistic sonnet form to rein in his anxiety and helplessness, while trying to make sense of a radically altered reality.
