We have plenty of poetry about love and even more about happiness. But what we refuse to talk about are the more painful things in life. How do you put your pain into words? What happens when you can't find anyone to listen? On the other hand, what if you've talked it out to the entire world and pain still pours out of you like a river? If Your Days Looked Like Mine is a collection of thoughts, feelings, and experiences that describe how to contend with staying alive. It explores the reasons we hurt, wish for death, and ultimately choose to live. It is about choices, but not those between easy and hard. It is about choosing the lesser of two evils, and what price you are willing to pay to be happy. It is about chasing the 100% that you need to be happy, but learning to live with only ever having 99%. Do you choose to stay happy with the 99%, or do you chase after the 1% instead?
