Author Name: Maria Asuncion About the Author: Maria Asuncion is Filipino-Canadian who has been an educator for many years. She pursued her love of poetry while studying at University of Toronto, earning her an Honours Bachelor's Degree in English and Psychology. Her passion for accessible education led to her receiving her Master of Education soon after. As a lifelong learner, she continues to pursue certificates in various subjects, such as mindfulness and publishing. In her downtime, she enjoys sharing strategies that help people be present in the moment, as well as develop and edit various written works, from research articles to romance novels. Due in part to her daily walks with her spouse, and from taking care of the lovely animals in her life, she wrote this poetry book inspired by nature. Since haikus historically reflected nature to show a writer's inner thoughts, she found it enchanting that as humans, we often find mirrors of ourselves in the inertia of the natural world.
