Firefly Flickers is a compelling collection of 21 twenty-one lined poems by first time author Kalyani Krishnan. Intensely struck and fascinated by the magical beauty of expressing profound thoughts through enchanting words, these poems reveal the deep-seated yearning for igniting the inner fire for creativity and zest for life. With the linking of the last two lines of every poem setting the thematic stage to begin the ensuing one, the first 18 poems from 'The Quest in Prospect', to 'Unison' are framed as connected verses.
The desire to re-kindle life, shedding off traces of human weaknesses, the wish to reach for the sky which presents an array of possibilities, the magic of love as the vivacious essence of life, moving ahead with ownership and belief in oneself, finding the necessary harmony of existence that comes with acceptance and giving up of arrogance and ego to be one with God form the major thread of this collection.
Though written more that two decades ago, the last three poems, additionally titled as 'poems from formative years', are also included here considering the thematic unity projecting the rebounding capacity that humans are organically capable of with mother nature as the perennial source of joy, freedom and ingenuity. The elements of light, flight and life merge in the firefly symbol pervading through the poems in this collection. Firefly Flickers also recalls the centuries old dilemma of self realization, expression and actualization with the latent solutions engraved in our enriching cultural legacy as a timeless and contemporary subject of discussion.
