About the Author: Like a Rose, she is a strong and a resilient being full of love and grace. She was a broken spirit who gathered the shatters of herself, and rebuilt herself into a mosaic. Rose (Rosie) is first-born Honduran-American, born to immigrants who sought out the ""American Dream"". She and her siblings were raised by their mom with the help of mom's siblings in North Carolina. Although she was raised Catholic and with traditional beliefs, she grew up experiencing culture clashes that made it difficult to ""fit in"". This affected her way of thinking, leading her to rebel, and often contemplate life. Despite her thoughts, Rose would bottle up all thoughts and emotions to keep pushing forward. During her adolescent and teenage years, Rose was very involved with the Latino community. She would spend her free time at church, El Pueblo nonprofit Organization, and the Boys & Girls club. Being out Volunteering became an outlet to distract her from her dark thoughts that would surface when by herself. Her thoughts had her feeling like a burden, feeling unloved, she never felt validated no matter the character she played, she was someone she was not happy with. That was then. Fast forward to many lessons later, Rose's perspective on life changed to looking at the glass half full rather than empty. Rose believes every living being deserves to be loved. Rose feels she is that someone her younger self (Rosie) would have appreciated to have for guidance many years ago. She is grateful for her husband Jesus who helped change her perspective on life. Their journey consisted of some trauma bonding, more culture clashing, and debriefs. Together they helped each other grow emotionally, mentally, and spiritually. Throughout their 14 years together, Rose and Jesus have helped others in their family find light in dark thoughts, and together they are healing from generational traumas. - You are enough, and it is okay to have bad days; be kind to your mind.
