Description of the Book:
‘Elements’ is an anthology of twenty-one poems which basically deals with the elements of human life. The author has beautifully captured human sentiments in different circumstances of life, and penned them with all emotion. All the poems describe human struggles and the pain felt by the human heart. Each of the poems expresses the obscure problems and pain of a particular condition of life with sparkling radiance. The elements in nature constantly rule over human life, and one feels the surge of emotions within, as per the situation life provides us, and there are many poems included in the anthology on this theme such as- Elements, Insanity, Infinity, Servitude, etc.
The poet feels that the human emotions are the same in every individual, let it be while departing from one’s family, or on being a mother, and poems like- The Departure, Motherhood, Passive Euthanasia, etc. try to express human emotions of life, in relation to life. In a world where sympathy and empathy have become rare, she articulates her emotions in support of them, which we find in the poem ‘Kuwait’s Manslaughter’. The poems- Fragrance of Life, Spider’s Web, describe the poet’s keen observation and connection with nature. One can feel the strong flow of emotions gushing through her words, captivating the readers to feel it. There are poems included on -Patriotism, The Common Man, that throws light on the changing human values in an ever-changing world. Poems such as- Ever Living Earth and Some Day, discusses the eternal truth of life, that Nature is ever living and human life is momentary! Author's Name: Caroline Mathew
About the Author: Dr. Caroline Mathew, born in Port Blair in 1961, completed her schooling in the Andaman Islands and earned her Ph.D. in E.L.T. from Utkal University. With an impressive 43-year career in education, she retired as a school principal, but considers herself foremost a teacher and then a writer. Dr. Mathew has a deep-seated passion for reading and writing, with over three decades of experience, crafting poems, articles, and stories. She has published four books: two poetry anthologies, a collection of children's stories, and the fourth book which is a ‘Memoir’, is in the final stage to publishing. A dedicated admirer of nature, her poetry often celebrates its beauty. She is also an avid gardener, spending much of her time tending to her plants. Through her writings, she vehemently opposes societal and environmental injustices.
