Author's Name: Rouba Chbeir About the Author: Rouba Chbeir is a PhD candidate in International Economic Policy at the Norman Patterson School of International Affairs at Carleton University (Ottawa, Canada). She is currently in her third-year doctoral degree with her research focused to “better people’s lives”, as she highlights the Social role and responsibility of global institutions namely, the international monetary fund (IMF) to support modern governments’ “social” policies. Before her PhD, Rouba was Senior Economist, Lecturer and Mentor. She holds a master’s degree in financial management from Cardiff, United Kingdom. Her major works studied the role of international institutions, the IMF, “socioeconomic parameters”, and public policy in the European Union after the 2008 global financial crisis. Rouba joined Beirut-based BLOMInvest Bank in 2016 where she became expert on Sectorial Market Research in Lebanon, while industry professionals utilized her data and reports’ novel insights. Rouba also specialized in examining the Macroeconomics of Lebanon and the MENA, and her portfolio entails 40+ publications frequently referenced by economists, students, policy makers, and the media (the National UAE, Lebanese Association of Banks, Hospitality News Middle East and City University London magazines). As Lecturer in a British-franchised program in Beirut, Rouba delivered practical and contemporary sessions in Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Organizational Behaviour, International Ethics, and Personal Development. She collaborates with guest speakers, regional and international industry professionals, to broaden her research, share knowledge, and mentor her students. Since 2015, Rouba runs an online chain of kindness (the Daily Dose) which became a “platform of hope & guidance” for 125 individuals. As a freelancer, Rouba was a Life & Career Coach on Kuwwati’s mobile life-coaching App in 2018/19 and ran 2 marathons, to support “others” in her community. Rouba then coached her own running team for the Beirut Marathon and became Community Leader in the Runners' community.
