Description of the Book:

"No matter how carefully you choose your words, they will always end up in being twisted."
It began the usual way, in those nights, where her mind went to war with her head.
The fight between what she knew, what she felt and what she had to do.

Burning Souls by Chitra Jain is a collection of her feelings, emotions and experiences which she explored while she was battling with depression.
A series of events over 14 years which made her desolate and left with the feeling of being wretched, back-stabbed and disgraced.

What's so special in this book?
Here you will experience the poetry in different forms like- Ode, Elegy, Sonnet etc. Each poem will compel you to delve into your own life and will connect you till the end. The poet's first ever written poetry- 'The Fading Love', written in 2010, when her first crush [who is now her husband;) ], didn't reciprocated her feelings then.

It starts with a sonnet which takes you beyond the constructed civilizations to the raw tenderness of the natural landscapes.
You get new insights and understanding of the humans as a satire in further poems. It also showcase an imaginary conversation between future generation calling someone in the present to enquire about the sustainability's on earth.
As the poet is ready to enter into her 30's, she dolefully illustrates her wisdom gained in her 20's.

As you move along the series of poetry, you will be inclined towards your own memories and will feel like the same has happened to you at some point of your life. This book focuses on the irony of prevailing digitalized civilization.
What's more interesting, is her passion for travelling has been portrayed in her poem 'Itchy Travel Feet', which has major Travel-to-Indian destinations covered .

You will get to read poetries in Hindi also, which primarily raises a hard question 'Is domestic woman really empowered?', 'Are women really treated as goddesses?" she wrote these poems to applaud her mother's sacrifices and the pain which she went through only because she was too-cultured. This poem is a slap to all those who doesn't deserve a woman's sacrifices.

Youth will be excited that there is an answer, to their questions on Indian myths and superstitions like evil's eye or women's periods, which is still outlawed to talk in Indian societies.
Finally, the poet expresses her sentiments exhilarately for her grand-fathers and her in-laws specially her husband- Mr. Rahul Jain, for which no word in the world falls short. A ghazal has been written devoted to him.

In short, Burning Souls is a mixed confluence of the poet's vengeance, tormented soul, her anger, combatting depression, the consequences of her over-expressive and generous behavior towards the society and her sacrifices which no one ever acknowledged.
This book is a silent revenge from the poetess to her society's allegations and their attempts to disgrace her.

Burning Souls- Dark truths beneath sweetest smiles..
