About the Author: There is never a time in which we know ourselves better than we do in a present moment- which is daunting, to say the least, because oftentimes we don't know ourselves at all. We are amalgamations of the ways the world has touched us, of both the gaping wounds and gentle touches we have acrued from those around us, and some days, when we look in the mirror, it is impossible to know the person that is looking back. To say that I know who I am well enough to tell you my story is a lie, a beautiful lie, but a lie nonetheless. But to say that my story cannot tell you who I am would be an even worse one- at the end of it all, I stand before you not as all of the tragedies I have been privy to, but as a collective understanding of all the ways I have survived. Noctis Dancer is a 22 year old poet, an artist, a creator- all of these things, equally, and yet, laid before you in this book, none of them at all.
