Description of the Book:
This book is a collection of poetry that I've written over several of years. My poetry is heavily influenced by the works of Raymond Carver, Walt Whitman, and Robert Burns. I write about the joy and pain of love, growing up in South Dakota, my love for Hawaii, and the quieter moments in life that enlighten our soul.
The title of this book, "A Wolf's Yawp on a Starry Night," is an homage to the one animal I truly fear: a wolf; my favorite literary term coined by Whitman: a Yawp; and one of my favorite paintings, "Starry Night" by Van Gogh.

Author's Name: Scott Mitchell About the Author: Scott R. Mitchell earned his Bachelor of Arts in English from The University of Sioux Falls (USF) in Sioux Falls, SD in May 2001. He is employed in risk assessment for a life insurance company. He is a South Dakota native, having lived in southeast South Dakota for the first 25 years of his life. He has lived in the Bay Area of San Francisco, Oakland, California, and the North Lake Tahoe area. In 2012, he relocated to Lake Wylie, SC to be close to family. He lives in Lake Wylie with his daughter, Cali, and his dog, Zoey. He draws his inspiration for writing from Raymond Carver, Walt Whitman, Robert Burns, and Lord Byron.
