A spectrum of hues by Maithri Arunkumar is a collection of poems inspired by nature and life, as we know it. Growing up, poetry and stories were a form of escape for the author. She dwelled in the awesomeness of words that claimed to be more than mere letters scrawled in black and white. It is in them, that she found peace, hope and a desire to create. This is therefore, not a book of pure joy but of deep emotions and sentiments felt over years of living in a world that tends to appreciate growth than support loss but has a touch of faith and humanity that allows its inhabitants to thrive. It is unfiltered and raw for the most part, yet untouched by adulteration. Not every poem here will make you smile - some may make you wonder, some may make you feel heard, some may bring forth sadness, while some, may inspire you.
